Hardware & Robotics Trainee

We are looking for a Hardware & Robotics Trainee to support our engineering team in developing and building laboratory products. This role involves working with mechanical, electrical, and software components to create innovative automation and robotics solutions. You will gain hands-on experience in hardware design, production and processes while collaborating with experienced engineers.

This role is based on-site in Salmisaari, Helsinki. We are looking for a trainee who could work full-time during the summer period and part-time during the spring. Additionally, there is an opportunity to later continue your thesis work in this role, provided a suitable topic is available.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of laboratory products and accessories
• Conduct hands-on hardware production tasks including assembly, organizing inventory, quality control, documentation etc.
• Support in prototyping, assembling, and testing mechatronics components
• Conduct troubleshooting and debugging of electrical and mechanical systems
• Document designs, test procedures, and findings

What will you need to be successful in this role?

• You are currently pursuing a Master’s/bachelor’s degree or similar in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Basic knowledge of mechanical design and electrical components
• Familiarity with some industrial 3D CAD software (we use SolidWorks)
• PCB/Electronics design tools knowledge is a plus
• Understanding of embedded systems (e.g. Raspberry Pi)
• Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, capability to use measurement tools
• Hands-on approach to engineering and practical knowledge in mechatronics, 3d-printing or similar area
• Good professional English proficiency, Finnish language is a plus.
• Proactive mindset with a willingness to take initiative and learn new skills
